Mechatronics represents a process that blends mechanics and electronics with use of precision engineering, computer science, information technology, control system theory, and sensor and actuator technology to design improved products and processes. This book, unlike many in the field, is aimed at upper level undergraduate engineers, not hobbyists or technicians. Therefore a certain amount of mathematical maturity is required. The objectives of this book are:

1. Mathematical modeling of physical systems

2. Building a common set of differential equations of electrical and mechanical systems.

3. Engineering analysis of integrated mechatronics systems in time and frequency domain.

4. Application of integrated modelng and instrumentation techniques to design and analyze an industrial mechatronic system.

However, it does not pretend to be a definitive textbook on any of these subjects. Instead, it assumes the reader has a previous exposure to all of these subjects but has not seen how to design a unified system using all of these types of devices and disciplines. There are plenty of examples, figures, and equations throughout the book, and the mathematics should not be difficult for any upper level undergraduate engineer to grasp. The final chapter shows some case studies in Mechatronics design which includes the obvious- a robot design. The appendices provide additional background on Laplace and Fourier transform techniques, and software tools including MATLAB, SIMULINK, and LabVIEW. The book emphasizes practical situations and applications with numerous worked examples, problems, and exercises. I highly recommend it to students of mechanical and electrical engineering who want to learn to design with a unified outlook on these two fields.

Good book for educational purposes

This book suits well to educational purposes at the university level. It has really wide material collected into one book, which makes it easier for the students and saves their time. If reviewed from the educational point of view, the book deserves four stars.

The book works also as a reference book for engineers and researchers, although for more serious research purposes there are books that go deeper in some specific areas.

Chantel and Jack's was an EXCELLENT story. I really liked the heroine. She came off as strong but vulnerable. Jack was annoying at times but he really loved her. The sex was hot and sensual, I glad they finally shared their feeling and found their HEA.

then dips back 10 years in the past of their first encounter and their relationship and the poof they are 10 years into the futu

Okay so this story starts in the present with a prolog of them married with a son already and her wanting another baby....then dips back 10 years in the past of their first encounter and their relationship and the poof they are 10 years into the future but not the present and after everythign they go thru she sort of becomes a side chick even though she doesn't want to be but keeps playing the side chick then it has the happy ending still in the past not the present of the prolog. The epilog is them getting married and her being pregnant with twins which is really only their son from the prolog.......basically had this author left off the prolog and epilog the story would have been good it just really confused me and the edititng errors. This is the second book I've read by this author and her jumping decades basically with the same story line boy meets girl gets girl pregnant she loses baby 10 years later boy is with another female but loves girl they end up back together.......I'm going to try another one of her books but if its the same storyline I don't think I'll want to read another.

I liked the book and first read it as a free read at the end of another Nina Ford book.

It is a good story- although at first I did not really like either character from what you saw of them. The book took place in the now but only after bit of a glance at the past and then the characters meet back up 10 years later. I wish more of the past was better explained and developed. The characters are interesting but need to be sketched out just a bit more because they have a deep history, a tragic ending, amazing chemistry and then poof! After harsh words and not knowing how to talk to each other-suddenly all their problems are gone and they are back together. The stories are interesting enough to keep you engaged but I wanted just a bit more to make them perfect. That said -still a fun romance that I recommend!

A system administrator since 1988, he now speaks at conferences around the world on topics ranging from firewall security to time management. Along with Christine Hogan he is co-author of the book "The Practice of System and Network Administration" from Addison-Wesley. He holds a B.A. in C.S. from Drew University, Madison, New Jersey, USA. Tom explains WHY, and leads you towards HOW!

I attended an eponymous presentation given by the author. Tom is a good presenter and a good writer and the sort of smart-but-easy-going guy you would want to work with. The whole idea of "time management" is especially important for systems administrators, who tend to juggle a lot of things at once while also handling user interruptions, and reporting to diffuse layers of management.

Tom does an excellent job of describing the problems of getting things done and managing customer expectations effectively, and explains various processes that one can adopt to improve on that. He emphasizes that it is a long-term, bit-by-bit process where you give different self-management methodologies a shot, and then as you find things that work, you expand the domain of your self-time-management to be more effective not merely in the field of Systems Administration, but life-in-general.

I myself am still experimenting with various daily regimens and have yet to find a system that works really well for me . . . but if Tom hadn't gotten into my head the importance of time management, I would still be spinning my wheels in ignorance as to how one might go about being more effective.

I dug this book so much that I gave it as a "starting day" gift when we hired our second SysAdmin. Tom was gracious enough to sign that copy--thanks, Tom!

Valuable Guide for System Administrators

Tom Limoncelli is a well-known system administrator, author and orator. He speaks at conferences around the globe on issues ranging from firewall security to time management. He has also published papers at conferences such as the Usenix LISA on a wide variety of topics including innovative firewall techniques, coordinating massive network changes, models for improving customer support, and the security issues related to firing your system administrator.

I like the book "Time Management for System Administrators" because it is written BY system administrator FOR system administrators.

The book covers not only the general time management principles, but also valuable advices for system administrators: how to make use of automation, how to cope with multiple customers, bosses and tasks, and so on.

In addition to this book, I can recommend the other great titles that I liked much: "Never Check E-Mail In the Morning" by Julie Morgenstern, "Getting Things Done" by David Allen and "Time Drive" by Gleb Arkhangelsky.

Quickly to the point and chock full of helpful practices

Limoncelli knows the life of a sysadmin and it shows in his no nonsense approach to helping us out with our lives. From practical techniques to quaint semi-mythical annecdotes the entire book seems to bring the insurmountable problem of Time Management down into the realm of quickly grasped and dealt with topics. Limoncelli doesn't make promises about a 10 minute fix, but in fact does quiet the opposite and is frank about the fact that you may spend months or years mastering these techniques. The book is filled with cut to the chase information and tactics for dealing with the Time Management problems that surround most sysadmins. Although not all of the advice is universally applicable you can always see where it would be useful to someone in a different field or job. In all a solid book well worth the short time it will take to read it.

Ask Who?

Before I start this review let me say this....

I'm a big fan of Wendy Williams..., but I'm going to say it like I mean it.

I can close my eyes and just imagine the conversation between Wendy and her friends...

Friend #1: Girl... you should write a book. You give so much good advice on your show! It's a No-Brainer.

Friend #2: I Agree!!

Wendy: I have been thinking about it... let me call my agent.

Months Later... the public has Ask Wendy by Wendy Williams on the shelf of their local bookstore...

Well.... Maybe the conversation didn't go exactly like I typed but remember I said I was imagining the conversation.

Ask Wendy is basically The World According to Wendy Williams - you can watch her T.V. show for free. I'm not going to say the book was horrible, because there was some good, funny, and a few hell-to-naw advice in the book.

If you Ask Orsayor... I would say... Wendy, just devote a show every week for Ask Wendy.
