I disagree with the other reviewer. I think this book is fine. I do not think she bothered to read all of the articles in the book. While the sentence beginning with "Turn" could have been constructed better, the rest of the article is not as awkward. Having read all of the articles in the book, I find them a good way to enhance the reading of nonfiction with children. The topics are interesting and we do not want all of the questions to be directly stated in the article, as that is very low on Bloom's taxonomy. Questions for which the students must infer require higher level thinking skills. The graphic organizers for each article are useful as well.

THE HP40 Bouldering book. It's all here

Adam Henry compiled a great book--perhaps one of the best that covers a fairly focused number of bouldering areas, with Horse Pens 40 obviously the concentration. AFAIK, every known problem is listed here along with really good pictures and a nice hand drawn layout of the area. The Schulz family is to be commended for opening this fantastic area back to bouldering. Most types of problems in bouldering are presented here, with several top-tier problems to solve. I live a couple of hours away, and wished I lived closer to that I could get my climb on after work, but we work within our limitations. So be it. If you are in the South East and love to climb, you must visit HP40. Another awesome climbing are is within 7 miles from here, Steele. You could spend a week and not get through 1/3 of the climbs available in a small radius. Highly recommended. Hope to climb this weekend, though it is going to be smoking hot, and that pretty much kills the hard problems, but you can still run laps on easier ones, which might just be what you need. That's what I need, lol.

Great Book, Good illustrations & Pictures

I have looked through the book and think that it is an excellent resource for climbing in HP 40. I plan to use it on an upcoming bouldering trip with friends. I'm a resident of the SE US so there are fewer places to go climbing, and as such it is helpful to have comprehensive guidebooks available to make the most out of a trip.

I would highly recommend this resource if you're going climbing in AL at Horse Pens 40.

Great guidebook that still needs a few finishing touches

I give it five stars because I cannot find any major flaws. I would give it a 9/10 if possible. It is missing a bit of description in terms of the start and top-outs of certain popular problems. The pictures leave a bit to desire as well. Some problems are never pictured. This is great guidebook besides all that I have said and is absolutely essential if one is to enjoy this area to the fullest.

About the Author
Robin Waterfield is an internationally acclaimed scholar and author, whose publications range from abstruse academic articles to children's fiction. He has worked as a lecturer, editor and publisher before taking up writing full time. Too many errors.

It was very informative but there were a lot of errors. I understand we are all human and we make mistakes but in Chapter three tha second paragraph is repeated in the third paragraph. It's a massive publishing error that should have been caught. Errors like that turn me off of books.
