About the Author
Victoria Spry was abused by her adoptive mother, Eunice Spry, for 18 years. In spite of the horrors she suffered, brave Victoria, who is now 28 years old, has miraculously flourished. She has taught herself to read and write, she has gone to college, and is now engaged to the love of her life.

Great book

If your anything like me, you have a big heart and care about children more than words can describe, you probably need a box of tissues and plenty of time to read. Once I started reading this I couldn't put it down and I cried more than once throughout the book.
If you can't decide if you want to read this or not then I suggest you do. You wouldn't have questioned it and read this far unless you are interested and that is all I need to know to recommend you read this.

I did not think this woman had an self pity. When you go through something as bad as she did. It's okay to be selfish, but I did not see that. Beware this book is graphic. There were times when I had to put it down but I had to know how she got out okay.
Please read and please help children.

so that I can help a child learn to be loved, and safe

The most disturbing, horrific and heart wrenching biography of child abuse I have ever read. My heart goes out to Victoria and her siblings, and to all the other children out there who have similar experiences.
It has re-enforced my desire to become a foster parent, so that I can help a child learn to be loved, and safe. It has raised my awareness of the secrecy that offenders can enforce on a child, and hopefully makes me more vigilant in seeing the tell tale signs of abuse.
To Victoria: I am amazed at how you have pulled through your experiences, you are truly a remarkable woman, I have great respect for you and even though you do not know who I am, know that through your story you have touched my heart and I will always think of you and wish you only the utmost happiness for the rest of your days.
